If neither Imagick nor GD can produce WebP on your server, the original image is kept and the upload completes normally. Nothing is broken.<\/p><\/dd>\n<dt id=\"what%20is%20the%20difference%20between%20keep%20original%20and%20replace%20original%3F\"><h3>What is the difference between Keep Original and Replace Original?<\/h3><\/dt>\n<dd><p>Keep Original leaves the uploaded file on disk and generates the WebP alongside it. WordPress continues to point to the original file. The WebP is available for server-level content negotiation or CDN use.<\/p>\n\n<p>Replace Original deletes the original file after conversion and updates WordPress to point to the new WebP file.
