So you want to show more content but not affect users experience?
I got you covered!
My plugin hides the predefined text, through a shortcode and based on your choice, leaving the remaining one visible to the search engines.
Your readers will be also able to read more content by pressing the ‘Read More’ button, without having the page reloaded.
Once you press „Read more“ button, it will expand.
They will also be able to hide it again by pressing the same button, which would have been converted to ‘Read less’.
It works via a shortcode and can be placed everywhere!
You can change its colors through its settings menu!
Hello, and thanks for this plugin.
The plugin does work in all basic applications and because it actually works. That's why I rated it 5 stars.
Suggested feature requests:
I'd give it 6 stars if as a courtesy, the shorcode was an easy copy/paste from somewhere in the dashboard. Or even a link in the dashboard to quickly access the documentation.
I'd give it 10 stars if all HTML such as DIV tags or FORM tags, even H# tags could be included between the start and top shortcode. Imagine the possibilities!
Your plugin is appreciated and works well with the most recent version of WordPress.
PS. Please keep your WP plugin page updated so that it doesn't have the warning posted that it hasn't been tested with the latest version of WP. The plugin is worthy!
The Plugin works fine but as a lot of people mentioned the documentation could be a little clearer. Follow the steps below to get it to work properly.
1st Open the RMWR settings page and at bottom of page click save changes
2nd, Make sure you are in text editor mode and not visual.
3rd Locate and place your cursor at the spot you want Read More located.
4th Now add the following with the brackets: [read more]
5th Place your cursor at the location where you want it to end and type:[/read]
6th Save page by hitting the update button.
Open your page in a different browser or in private mode to test. Sometimes the f5 key needs to be hit to clear the cache.
The RMWR settings page has other options like text color, background, padding etc. those can be changed at any time.
You can also change the Read More or Read Less to something else of your choosing on the settings page. Remember to always be in text editor and use the brackets.
I tried two other plugins before installing this one and both failed.
The first one left large white spaces and it was not possible to edit the read more text. The other one spit out too much information and it was not possible to remove the abundant click text.
A little bump
Now there was a little bump after installing this one. The read more text did not show. Oops! After changing the text to my local language in the sidebar menu, it showed. Pfff.
Confusing shortcode
[complain mode] the shortcode open and close tag is not logical. Best practice is to use the same term and add a slash to close. Like this [/complain mode]
Now it is [read more] followed by [/read] and that confuses me.
Perhaps there is a reason behind this. For me it is weird, suggesting there are other combinations possible.
All working great
That being said as constructive criticism. It is working as expected. 5/5. thanks.
